It has been business as usual here at Minkler Farms. Calving is in full swing, it has been keeping everyone pretty busy taking care of the cattle. At least the weather has been pretty good so far. Minkler Trucking added a couple of new trucks to their fleet. They bought a new 2008 Volvo VT 800. They used it to bring the used East end dump that they had purchased home.
The end dump is going to be used to haul wet cake from the ethanol plant to our feedlot and for customers. It is going to be pulled by the 06 Mack Granite. Here they are hooked up and sitting in the shop getting ready for their first day of hauling.
The Volvo is going to haul grain for a couple of weeks until it moves to its permanent job. We are leasing onto a tanker company and going to haul fuel. Hopefully our tank will be here in a week or 2. We are also in the process of getting all of our licensing and permits ready to go. There is a fuel terminal here in town so that is were it will primarily run out of. Until then it will be on a hopper.
Here it is backed in the shop and everyone is looking the new truck over.
The other truck they purchased was an 05 Pete with a 550 ISX Cummins and a step deck trailer. It will be hauling hay or anything else that you can haul on a flat bed. It will also pull the drop deck and haul grain from time to time. When the trucking company is owned by a farm, grain becomes the priority at certain times of the year. Here it is pulling in the yard.
Minkler Ag bought a sprayer trailer at an auction last week end. They took the Pete to go and get it. It needed a new set of tires on the rear axle. So they are backing it in to put the tires on it and get it ready to go. It will be going to work hauling the 4930 around before too long.
The Mack has been hauling wet cake for a week now. It is working out pretty well and we are keeping busy with it. We hope to pick up enough customers to make that the full time job for that truck and trailer. Here it is unloading a load at our bunker. (I couldn't find anything that looked like wet cake so you will have to use your imagination.)
Pulling away and getting ready to load wagons to go feed.
There is always something going on in the shop. The T-600 KW is in getting serviced. The pay loader is also in for a service. The dry tender is getting a leaking hose fixed on the discharge spout. It has been getting a workout keeping the spreaders running.
Today there was an informational meeting about wind power that I was going to. So on the way I stopped by Johnson Farms to check out the 9650 that they just purchased. It is replacing their 9610. (It is a freaking awesome custom Nice work Chris!!!)
That is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
