Looks like getting some work done. A few guys here plant sorghum sudan grass for hay, but I don't how much different that is than cane.

Thanks guys. I think cane and sudan are fairly similar. The main difference I believe is that sudan can be grazed while it is green and tends to grow faster and you can get multiple cuttings. We graze our cane stubble but we have to wait for it to freeze down.

Powershift 4020 ? On a good year how many bales per acer should that stuff make ?

Very interesting, you should be able to get a couple bales off there Honestly I'm surprised how easy that seems to go through the NH. For such a tall, thick crop I would have guessed it would have been a hassle to get it under the reel without tangling it around it. Thanks for posting those pics, really neat to see.

The 4020 is a syncro. I wish it was a powershift. The swather has a bar in front of the real that lays the crop over forward. Then when the sickle gets it the real pulls it straight to the auger. I was really suprised at how well it went through it as well. It has a 9ft crimper though so that helps get it through. That was my first time with a sickle swather in cane. I used to use the neighbors disc mower and it would take that stuff in 7th gear.

I am really behind on my journals. I do need to get some done. I was hoping to get one done over the weekend, but I didn't have time.
