Seems like a waste of money when you can chip it and have the same power as an 8410

Seems like a waste of money when you can chip it and have the same power as an 8410 Isn't the 8410 the 8.1L motor and the 8100 the size smaller? Seems like they are asking a lot of that motor in the 8100 IMO.

Yes the 8410 has the 8.1. We dynoed ours and its at 260 but we have a neighbor who has one that's running 300 easy, and it's not chipped.

If it is done right the propane injection won't hurt the engine. It cools the intake charge and will make it burn the extra fuel from the chip more completely. It will actually make it produce less black smoke and cleaner emissions. It is getting a lot more common in the over the road truck segment. I know a guy here in town who has it on a stock dodge with a cummins. It isn't turned up or anything and just has the propane. It really helps the economy as well. Even with the cost of the second fuel it was saving him money on trips. It does the same thing as the water methanol injection that is getting to be very common in the high performance diesel sector.

Its basically what old Tractor Pullers did. When you see vintage pics of em with a propane tank hangin off the side. They are just injecting propane into the engine. When done right it doenst hurt anything. Kinda like NOS in a car only less harmfull.

All 8000s had the 8.1 except for the first couple years in the smaller models. They had the 7.6 Our 95 had a 7.6 and the 98 and 99 both have the 8.1 Only difference is the 99 says Powertech on it. Which leads me to believe it was boderline a 10 series.
