We own about 600 acres of farmland in southeastern Manitoba (Blumenort area) and rent about 200, plus we are in a crop-share agreement with an older neighbour/farmer who has about 300 acres. We plant canola, hard red spring wheat, winter wheat, oats, sometimes barley, 50-70 acres of alfalfa together with another neighbour, 80-100 acres of corn (on the field where we empty the lagoon)
We used to have about 1200 finishing pigs, but our contract ran out just before the market crash and we didn't lose any money. Luckily we've kept our barn full custom feeding for other farmers.
We are a family farm where my dad and grandpa run the farm, but everybody pitches in at harvest and seeding.

We had 51 acres w/ 42 tillable. We grew 23 hay, 19 corn. We had a herd of 50 Jersey cows w/ 38 being milking. All the hay was made into haylage, with the exception of every now and then. The silage, HMSC, and haylage was stored in a 14x32 Harvestore, 20x50 Harvestore, 16x40 Stave silo. When the farm was around it was featured in the FARMSHINE. It was operated by my dad and grandpa. We sold the farm in 1995, due to the family growing. Grandpa working for ABS( American Breeder Services). We kept the cows in a free-stall barn and milked them in an 11- cow parlor bunkbarn. Most of the equipment was parked outdoors. It located in Holtwood, PA. It was then sold to an Amishman, and then he sold out. The buildings are no longer used except for the house. The land is still farmed though.
