It has been getting busier on the farm. The nice weather has let us get into the fields a little. The dry spreaders are still running hard. We have been running the rippers over some of the corn ground that we grazed last winter. It was a little packed and tracked up from the cattle on it. Here is a pic of the yard. It was getting a little congested.
The Transtar was on hay hauling duty. It was pulled up to the shop to get the tires checked.
We pulled the NH3 rig into the shop to get it ready to roll. If the weather stays this nice we will probably start with that before too long. The CCS was in to get an oil leak fixed. We had put in some oats and the hydraulic motor on the drill fill was leaking. Ben was fixing that. The 900 was on the disk getting greased up to roll.
I went and got our new hay grinder on Sunday. We bought Johnson Farms old one. They got a new one with a hydra-fork on it. Our current grinder is also one of their old ones. I took the Transtar up to get it. The Volvo that will usually pull it was on the other grinder and was grinding for a customer. Here it is setting in front of their shop.
Hooked up.
Rolling out.
Here it is in the shop with the truck that will be pulling it.
We ended up disking some of the ground we were drilling to oats this year. It was cane last fall and it was pretty wet when we swathed it so we disked it to smooth out some of the ruts.
The 8870 and CCS drilling some oats.
The contractor also finished our open front machinery shed this week. These are pretty common on farms in this area. Now we will have to start moving some equipment into the shed. Here is the reason we wanted another shed. The big shed is stuffed. It made it really hard to get stuff in and out.
Here is the new shed. With a giant yard stick on top. ;D The contractor hadn't picked up all his tools yet. lol
Well that is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
