has anyone ever hauled a JD 7000 16 row planter on a semi trailer? i would think that it would be low enough to fit on a step deck, but i kinda think its too long to fit on a lowboy. I am looking at buying one that is in middle of Illinois, and i'm in SW Minnesota.

it would be hard it just depends on the overhang on the back. a 12 row 30 inch spacing and 8400 has about 4-feet to spare on our stepdeck.

This is a stackfold? Guess it depends on how long your trailer is... It wouldn't be hard to bring one of the wings up onto the step either I wouldn't think. Trey

Get a long flatbed or lowboy, I haven't seen it done up here.

Why would he just go out and get a flatbed or lowboy when he doesn't know if it fits or not? That sounds like a waste of money to me. I would try the toy version ;D lol. I would say if the wheel base works and fits on there it would. On a 53' drop deck with a beaver tail we can barely fit our Steiger 350 and Avalanche on there. If that helps any. Kind of. But if you did some research you could figure it out.

You wont have a problem at all hauling a front fold. We're picking up a 24row next week with our dropdeck. Trey

It will fit easy i used to work at Route 9 auction here in central IL loaded many of them, just use a tractor and a loading dock if they have one and back it on then lower it down and block the hitch five chains 2 pulling forward and 2 pulling back and one across the hitch and when you go to unload it, if you can find a loading dock close buy and ask to use it like another auction lot or just use a ditch. we actually had to pick one up once and load it that way with a john deere and a case wheel loader dont remember why but it was fun lol. But you should be fine just make sure you have all the permits and signs. just my experience with them. Have fun oh yeah and we hauled them on a step deck

It will fit. My boss and my best friends dad each bought a sixteen row planter that they converted down to a twelve row for cotton planting. They were both delivered on step deck trailers. It's a bit wide but I guess it was legal.
