I would like to see a picture of it with the header raised. I wonder if they fixed that problem? If they didn't I don't know if I will buy one or not.

Highly amused to find out that this "authentic" is more plastic then metal, the top bin extensions do NOT fold, & to make it look somewhat decent, Jeff Moore @ Moores Farm Toys had to hack it up and add a bunch of his parts to it to make it look nice.
Cant wait to see some reviews of it once people start getting theirs. I know I wont be spending my money on this release...

In all honesty, the days of mostly die-cast 1/64th models are gone, with the exception of Spec-Casts 1/64th detailed tractors. Plastic is here to stay on the 1/64th models, and to be honest if Everything was die-cast on the Authentic, the price would probably be even more expensive. Ertls new owners probably had a say in the design as well. I will say though, the Authentic S690, is still better in detail vs the previous 1/64th 9870STS, and I am glad to see a better detailed 1/64th Deere combine finally released, maybe not the same as the CIH 7088/6088, but better then what the 9870STS in 64th was. Yeah, the 9870STS had a lot of die-cast metal in it, but it lacked detail, and I would rather have some better detail vs a plain model. I will be getting an Authentic S690 for the collection. I have not added many 64th toys of lately to the collection, as detail has been lacking and tend to be adding more 32nd scale toys and a few 1/16ths. The power fold Bin extensions, would have been nice on the S690, and the same for the 6088/7088, but it was cost prohbited I imagine on Ertls part, and had to be omitted. Hope to get a 64th S690 soon. Jason

I agree with Jason, as collectors keep pushing for more and more details. This is what its coming down too. Lots of plastic being used on them. As you can't get that kind of detailing and keep prices down with metal.
Detail is nice, but to me I rather have metal. Mirrors, stacks, hand rails, and ladders. That was good enough for me. And it still had lots of metal in it. I buy diecast, not plastic unless under unusual circumstances. So as they get too plastic, I won't be buying regardless what it is or detailing.
As for this combine, I won't be buying one. One the design is not the Deere I grew up with. Way too much Euro styling in it. Deere is American, not Euro. The toy way too much plastic for that kind of price.

The toy way too much plastic for that kind of price. If This model was all die-cast, the price would probably have been twice as much, and probably less detail as well. Maybe I am the odd one out, when I say, I am pretty pleased with the S690 Deere from Ertl, and I would hate to have Bill Walters Job, as you can't please every collector out there. The detail level on the new S690, is better then the past 64th JD combines, and I give credit to Ertl for trying a detailed JD combine. Maybe Ertl will do a 2nd production run later on with added detail? Time will tell, but you never know. They seem to be improving the detail as the time goes on. I guess, I feel we are lucky for the 1/64th Toys we are getting these days, and can't complain too much about whats on the market now. 15 years ago, no one would have thought we would have this amount of detail on 64th scale models from Ertl, and customizing was going on then, and today as well.
