I dont get it, what makes it a soybean planter as opposed to a corn planter?

I dont get it, what makes it a soybean planter as opposed to a corn planter? Years ago in my parts. We ran a till drill for grain. Then a planter for corn, which was set for 30 inch rows or there about. Then when it came for soybeans. We had a planter with narrow rows around 20inches. That was set for no till. Where the corn planter usually got tilled ground. That is how we used to do it. Later no till took out most of that. Now we drill grain and soys, and plant no till corn. Now why we didn't set use a regular corn planter. One you lost yield due to less rows, second the farmers didn't want to set the planter every time you used it. my dad when he was a kid used to plant beans with their 4 row wide planter, said they head almost head height, I think
