I was reading on TTT about this. And somebody said that CIH might be redesigning there planters and Spec-Cast might make them. I don't know for sure if thats going to happen, but i hope so. You know how companies are. they could have something then change one thing and redecal as a new model. Only ever using JD planters, I don't know much about cih planters other than the old cyclos, but I know a lot of guys that use them admit that jd has a better row unit design. So maybe they will be coming out with a newer row unit. And I know at least the older planters like the 800, and 900 models that "blow" the seed in the ground were terrible for spacing accuracy. I don't know if the new 1250's still do that or not, but if they do I would sure hope they would put individual meters on a redesigned row unit. The main planters in my area is John Deere. IH never really got a foot hold on planters here. Even with drills, where they was mainly John Deere or Great Plains. The IH farms even didn't use IH planters/drills. And that says something. As they was die hard IH users.

Scale isn't making any cause the government keeps putting restrictions on metal. They did an interview with him. The metal has to have a certain amount of lead. However due to government rules, you can't have so much on a kids toy, but you can eat out of higher amount in a pan. Go figure. Spec not sure they been having issues for a couple of years now about delaying stuff.
If you look at it, toy farming hobby is a limited area. Since most kids rather do video games and sports where your outside.

After dropping 150+ bones on Saturday morning, I find it hard to believe the economy is bad in toy farming world. I suppose in the big picture when you have us buying from smaller market of high quality items like Authentic STX450s or DB90s versus the cheap JD Farm Sets you get in Walmart or judging by the full shelves in the Ertl outlet store or the drop in RC2/NASCAR demand, yeah I suppose sales are down. Well do like most companies, scale back and sell what you can in the market that has money...US.

Fuel is projected to hit $5 a gallon, that means most of us will take $100 easy just to fill a small car. Even mine I drive to work will cost me that, and its a small car. I will have stopped all buying of toys way before then. As I need gas money. Heck I might not even the net when those prices hit. Gas money will be mostly needed just to survive. Who we have to thank, our Government.

I'm honestly not surprised by this. It seems like one thing after another with them. Maybe cancelling them is a good thing, despite making the hobby mad Of course cancelling them is good. Because then you will have to get some green power. Once again it looks like it will be a disappointment for most of you guys.

toy companies are hurting. Scale Models is about done the way it sounds. The last of the 1/8 scale tractors are going to be released this year. Spec cast is hurting as well. Ertl was bought out by RC2 a few years ago and they have reduced the amount of farm toys they do, and is a small percentage of there company. They have talked about ending the ertl part all together. That is what one of the toy dealers heard at the national farm toy show. If sales and the economy dont turn around, they may end farm toy production all together if what i typed above is true. The 1/8 scale tractors are done, Saw that on outback toys, ordered a couple of the last ones being made. it will be a sad day if they do end production all together, i just may cry. I like my toys and like to buy the new stuff and the old stuff I have my doubts that the Ertl Farm Toy division will automatically disappear. While yeah all the toy companies are hurting, I don't think they will drop the Farm Toy Production all together. If anything, Ertl will cut back greatly on 1/16th scale models, other then the Precisions, and perhaps more 64th toys using exsisting casting. RC2 was recently bought out by Tomy, so who knows what will happen. I really like collecting farm toys as a hobby, and would be a shame to see toy production quite all together. Yeah, I can see Scale Models cutting back or shuting down, they have been having government issues and their prices of toys keep going up in price, almost rediclous on some items. The last 24th Gleaner I bought from Scale Models was well over $190 bucks, where as 10 years ago I bought a 24th Gleaner that was $90. Thanks to infantation and rising costs. I like collecting the Gleaner combines, but the prices are getting very expensive. I imagine if Ertl had kept Toy production going in North America, they probably might not even be around today under RC2 and now TOMY, if they had not moved over seas. Hate to say it, while it would be great to see Toy Production back in the US from Ertl/Tomy, I don't see that happening anytime soon. All business's go through tough times. Fortunately TOMY is a big company with many branches, so if anything I would rather see New Farm Toy releases every 2 years vs every year if it meant Farm toys would continue to be produced. Jason B
