Maby i just dont know how to run it right. I dont know Id take a powershift ANY DAY over IVT

We do it in the spring too. Normally a day or six before the planter. Makes for a nicer seedbed and the fert is still where you put it. You should take the hitch off and make it 3pt. That tractor can lift it with the tanks on it

Lucky your in the field already.. We are like two tone, usually strip right before we plant for a good seed bed, plus we graze our stalks through part of the winter.

Wish field work was going on here, we are having temps of 50 degrees already and then 60 degress so snow is melting fast! Just wish there was dry and green lawn!

IVT isn't supposed to exactly be like a hydrostat, similar looks, but different mechanical gearing.
Having the power to do it in the fall can be difficult, tractors are more freed up early spring which truly does make a better seedbed. Also, most of the stuff we strip till has been grazed all winter. Doesn't make sense to rip before putting cattle on it.
We usually shoot for April 20th to plant. Some guys plant as early as March 27th, but planting later lessens the risk of freezing and we seem to pick up yield the later we plant. When you plant also plays a key part on when the cornplant is in silk and filling out. We have to guesstimate on planting so we can try to miss the really hot days during August so it doesnt burn our yield to terribly bad.
Our Orthman got seperated from the planter a week ago. We still have to take off hoses and what not that went to the planter. The hitch helps give the bar some slack when going through the field. If we didn't have the hitch, the bar would jump around more then it's worth. We're not putting in fertilizer on with this. All the fert. will go on with the planter.
There's a couple guys here that hated them, till someone showed them how they're supposed to be run.... Lol

The bar would jump around? What are you strip tilling into solid rock? We ran a 12 row 1tripper on the 3pt and it had no movement at all. Besides that I would rather have it on the 3pt so that it tracks exactly with the tractor

Besides that I would rather have it on the 3pt so that it tracks exactly with the tractor I understand what your trying to get at. Tracking with the tractor makes it much straighter in soft ground. When you hit irratic hard pans just throws it off. I guess we'll see how it goes being the first year strip-tilling seperately. We might run it 3pt next year, all depending on our experiences this year. Trey

Are you dropping liquid at one depth or 2? Variable rate?

Quite interesting. You don't see operations like those around here. Is the tractor officially yours to keep?

Quite interesting. You don't see operations like those around here. Is the tractor officially yours to keep? It has to prove itself on the planter. Also have to figure out how we're gonna be able to pay for it. I'm still in love with the 9330... haha Trey
