It is starting to get busy around the farm. Calving is starting to slow down. Probably about 75% done. It is about time to start fixing fence. Every day still starts with feeding cattle. Here is the 4450 with the chuck wagon feeding some cows.
Some new trucks arrived at the farm this week. Minkler Trucking's new 389 Pete with Wilson hopper showed up. It will be taking off over the road on Monday. It has an ISX 550 Cummins engine. I offered it to some of my veteran drivers but they all have pre-emission trucks so they turned it down. They have heard to many bad stories about the new truck with the exhaust filters. So it is going to a newer driver. He is tickled to have a new truck. Plus the other OTR guys have been in their trucks since they were new. They have them all set up the way they like them and they are not that high miled yet.
We also got some more used Mack Granites and a Wilson hopper. The trucks are 06 models with around the 100K on them. Here they are rolling in the yard. The wet cake truck is fueling up and washing windows.
The first thing we did was run them in the shop to put in the cbs and the business band radios. Then they went out to their jobs.
They are going to be pulling hoppers and the sprayer trailer.
Parked and ready to go.
The other one is on sprayer trailer duty.
As soon as the first one pulls out another one follows it in to reload.
The floater is running too. It is running some custom acres.
Out at the wheat field. The sprayers will busy between taking care of the farms wheat and doing work for customers.
Reloading to run some more.
Loaded up and heading back in.
The 4920 was running closer so he got back and got reloaded before the 4930 did. Here they are one is coming in and the other one is leaving.
Back at the chemical building loading up.
We have all of the farms dry fertilizer applied. We are still running hard doing custom work between Minkler Ag and Johnson Ag. Here is the Ag Chem out on some wheat.
Here is the FLX reloading at the edge of a field and rolling again. We have been running the FLX for a year now and so far we are really happy with it.
That is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
Stay tuned for part 2.
