That is a bummer. At least they're not a bad tractor to split, and like you say better to catch that bad shaft now rather than in the middle of cutting hay. Also nice to know the clutch is now new and good to go.

That would explain the good price. That is a big bummer on buying a tractor ready to go. I would not been a happy person that is for sure. Comes to used stuff, buyer beware. Since the clutch is out. I would think about the rear main seal on the engine. Might need it as well as a leak there can ruin a new clutch. Last few I did, I installed one anyways.

I am changing the rear main. I have one ordered. They are a good thing to change while you have the option.

Yep, it has a ta. It appears to be working and just the clutch is the problem.

I had it together at 11:45 last Thursday night. I used it all day Saturday. It pulls really strong. But I absolutely hate that red pile of crap. I traded it off for a 4020 last night.

Red don't bother me, I kinda like them. However we dont have a local dealer on support and parts. That is why I went Green (John Deere) and Blue (Ford). I run what is in my area for dealer support. I would try a Massey, but after looking over their stuff. New Holland had them beat on features with an awesome price. And the Massey was about priced as a Deere. So if I was going to spend that kind of $ on new tractor. I rather go Deere.
