We're still chuggin along down here! We Have planted 16 circles of corn so far and have 3 left. Hoping on planting dryland beans by Thursday. Before we get to that, we'll start with some other things. I've still been going pretty hard strip-tilling the last 2 weeks. Have a circle and a half left yet. One sandy half-pivot was pastured pretty rough over the winter and hadsome deep cattle ravines in areas that would be nasty to find with a sprayer or a grain cart. I've been hauling loads of dirt to try to fill to the best I can. Mainly usin' the ol brig. Haulin off part of the Mosier Mountain! Nobody is allowed to plant but dad this year, he cringes if we even touch it ha Rode a couple rounds with him sunday night while trying to fix a seed monitor. We've had a hell of time trying to get larger corn seed to blow through the tubes on the ccs this spring. Custom Applicator was putting on dry fert. ahead of us. Downside to havin a cart is you can barely back the darn thing up... Mosier Farms Planting rig- 2012! Nothin beats a brand new setup. That's it boys! Be ready for more in a bit. Trey

Awesome planter and pics, I can only bet your dump trucks are better than ours even though there old. Ours are so scary to drive and loud which I like, but just scary to drive and shift. Steering may not work the best and brakes are usually never even great. Trucks on our farm can be scary.

We have an 05' Western Star with an Ox Bodies bed and a 84' General also with an OX Bodies bed. We have several end dumps and belly dumps to. Trey

Interesting to see you plant between the rows after you had corn last year. The guys who does corn on corn here is for silage. They don't go between the rows they just plant.

Good looking set up. What model is the tractor? 12' 8360R. We don't plant in between the rows, in the picture from the rear you can see we are planting at a slight angle. Trey

Very nice setup Trey. Do you guy not have trouble with your tracks? Ours can get very deep. We have been filling them with gravel and I plant the corn in a circle. That really helps with silage. We have an old beat up Ford with a dump bed on it.

We have an old beat up Ford with a dump bed on it. We try to keep our tracks in as best shape as possible. Usually haul in 6-7 gravel loads per circle a year. It helps when you own the sandpit ha In sandier soils, deep ruts are not as much of an issue. But when you get into the blacker dirt, they get miserably deep. During the growing season if we have any major issues, we'll haul in cinder blocks or even railroad ties depending on the situation. Trey

farm looks good trey but did you say that you haul gravel into your feilds to fill ruts that makes sence but wouldnt you be making the ground harder to plant with it or how does that work cause thats the first time ive heard of any one hualing rock into there fields around here its the other way around

Really, we'd like our tracks to be fairly compacted. If they are soft, we'll just have ruts and then I'll be pulling stuck pivots out all summer long...
We aren't going to grow anything where the system runs anyway. Trey

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like the right side hitch support brace is bent near the front?? I know I was always careful not to turn to tight cuz the duals would hit them. Nice pics, tho, haha it makes me want a 24 row now

I must say that is a very impressive looking planting setup. Like seeing planters with tow behind tanks. If had to use a planter that's what I'd be doing.
Gotta love them old "character" trucks. I've driven a few in my time, those trucks no one else wants to walk past let alone get it.... Those are the ones I'm always go for. Up here, that would be the old gas powered 5+4 tranny equipped pigs.... "Screamin Jimmies" are a step up from them.

Nice dump truck.
I bet you hate backing into corners with that plater, or do you guys just go round the corners?

Nice dump truck. I bet you hate backing into corners with that plater, or do you guys just go round the corners? We can't back up hardly at all, we'll turn around on the road and then plant square. But if we can't because of fencing or poles, then we'll have to cut the corners. The hitch does look bent, I'll have to look at it. I really don't think it is. The Brigadier is my favorite dump truck hands down. I learned how to run a manual transmission in it. Trey

We're at a standstill for the time being unless we get a good rain. Planted 200 acres of dryland beans last week but are in desperate need of some moisture if we want to plant more. I hinted we might be building a shed this winter. Well here she is, the shell of it atleast. We should have time to finish it up after the wheat is in. 81'x160'. Trey
