Some sort of Russet or one of the 2000 varities Frito Lay has lol. They sure have alot of them and we must carry around 10 of them. Out of our 2000 acres we plant over half are about Frito Lay.

It's interesting that you pull the cultivator, then the moldboard plow directly ahead of the planter. That's a little different than the standard order.
Neat to see a Lay's being born! LOL
Thanks for posting how white potatoes get planted. I wish I had my camera earlier today, and I could have posted sweet potato planting here in NC. They are transplanted on bedded rows like tobacco.

Well I would like to see the pics as well you have and yes I know not many rollover plows pull the cultipacker behind them but it is a custom build bracket on the back of our plows.

Why do you pull a plow in loose dirt like that? This is something new to me.

I am not exaclty sure on that but I think its because the dirt is still kind of crumbled and to roll it over to loosen it more then crumble it to get the clumps out. The potato rows are much smoother and easier to go thorugh with the planter.

However we did sweet potatoes. Out in the Eastern side of the state they grow it since the sand is more loose (sand based) where ours is clay based and more thicker.

Yea spuds shouldnt really be farmed in the clay different with other crops but clay can get so dusty and thick or if it gets wet sticky and yea just a mess.

Tire size on that 8270 is interesting, we always ran a little narrower tire since we did peanuts, to go between the rows like on your spuds, but dang thats narrow.

Yes beleive me they are narrow and they don't provide much flotation. Planting isn't as bad as digging but on the windrowers people complain about them with no flotation. They only liked running the New Hollands or the older ones when we had them because that had bigger tires. No flotation with these but on the plows we run wider tires.

Yeah I can see them not providing much for flotation yeah noticed the Massey still had decent set of tired on it

That's really cool. Honestly, I've been many places in the country and seen many things, but, first time I see a potato planting set up. It's really interesting to say the least.
