We're beginning to see the end, and I'm feeling ready to be done. While we have not had as wet of a spring as the last couple. The showers have been steady enough to slow progress and drag it on a bit longer that I'd like. That being said, We're done everything but about 400 acres of flax. So to be in that position by May long weekend..... I'll take it!
This past weeks you could tell the intensity went up in this district. With an ugly forecast set to "unload" Friday (yesterday) and more rain expected next week. The neighborhood was crawling with action.
After managing to control myself and seed at a slower speed, while maintaining the same acre/hr as previous years. I decided it was time to get serious come Wed. and shifted back up to my old speed and ripped off 800 acres in 2 days and finished seeding the cereals 2 hour before the rain started.
here's a few pics from the last couple weeks.....
..... something I haven't done in years was spend time rolling, but once the peas were in the ground The drill had caught up to the sprayer burn off. So with only 2 of us around this year I spent a day getting the rolling finished up while the father-in-law got on the sprayer.
Once the rolling was finished up I had to transport the land roller 20 miles south to it's co-owner so he could get it out on his fields. Thought I'd catch all kinds of action going on in that district but was disappointed, It was a lot more wet down there and only saw one guy out in the field working.
Heading for the hills.... well the edge of them maybe.....
I was wishing I had my good camera with me. This guy had 2 Versatile/ Harmon air drill outfits working together. This was the big outfit of the 2. The other (down behind the hill) was a Series I 700 pulling a slightly smaller Harmon.
Went past this pasture full of "stuff" on the route. Only other thing of interest to me was a old cockshutt one-way/discer.
Back on the drill and into seeding cereals....
This was a qtr section of 1/2 flax, 1/2 lentil stubble and a coulee(valley) that separated them. Toughest pull for the 9370 on the new outfit was the hills on this qtr. Beginning to think maybe a bit more hp/traction maybe in our future a bit sooner than expected.
using up some blended fertilizer left over from Canola.
usually it's separate phosphorus in the front, N in the rear.
durum loading up
The rest of these are neighbors that were out working next door to wherever I was at the time. Really a new small sized camera with better zoom for these occasions.
9280 Steiger pulling a 60' Seedhawk and 5440 tank
Valmet with a Quickie loader, out rolling peas
This could of turned out so much better if I would have slowed down as I drove past...
854 Rogator at 5:00 am
8430 with 36'(?) Morris cultivator working water runs...
4930 Deere
NH on a 39' Flexi-Coil 5000 and 2320 cart
9420T on Seedhawk with 6550 air cart
Hope you enjoyed
