John Deere 4830 Sprayer Review

Well today I stopped in the John Deere dealer to pick up a S690...didn't get one yet, and there was the 4830 on the shelf. So I ended up spending about $16 more than planned but I'm very happy with my purchase.
The 4830 features 100 foot booms and 1000 gallon tank. The booms raise and lower just like the 4930, staying perpendicular to the ground. It also features foam markers on the ends. It has work lights and all the details around the tank are finished off very nicely.
This model is very detailed. It comes with all the railing on the platform and a fold up step. It also had a mirror but its cast in the green plastic with a shinny sticker for a mirror. A little bit of black paint will fix her up nice. The cab features a nice 3 spoke wheel.

The only thing the authentic 4930 has over the 4830 are the dicast wheels, opening cab door and hood, and small details. The 4830 has nice clips that hold the booms in place while folded up, much better than the 4930. I give it a 9.5 outta 10! This should ease the burden of Ertl's new planter

I already have a large modern sprayer, the 4920. So I passed on this one. I wanted a small modern sprayer. That is why I passed on the 4930 as well. Which is basically a 4920 so I didn't want another copy of that sprayer.

Looks nice, but I think I'll stick to my 854 Ro-Gator when I build it, might get a few of these for the local Co-op.

Most of the body is die-cast. The handrails, booms, rims, and cab (basically the details) are plastic. The frame and body are all die-cast.

I agree, I would love to see Ertl do an older sprayer. Like a 600 or 6000, 6500, 6700. My H. farm would love a SP sprayer. But can't justify paying almost a combine for one.
