We have been staying busy around the farm so far. We have started hauling cane and alfalfa in from the fields. We are only about a month and a half away from bringing the heifers home to start calving. We are using both flatbeds to haul hay this year. We can move a lot of hay home in a day with them. The spread will haul 33 bales and the other one will haul 27. Here is the 7810 loading the big trailer. (I never have got around to building grapple forks for my loaders so imagine that they are there. ;D)
Here is the other truck in getting loaded up.
We have also been staying busy with the custom grinding business. It will really pick up after the first of the year.
We have got the combines all cleaned up and serviced and put away. When we were going through the 06 8010 we found a lot more wear than we had expected. It turns out that it didn't have the extended wear package. The high corn yields took there toll on it. We are considering trading it off also. We have too many acres to cover to have combine problems. It took us a lot of years of running old combines to get ahead enough to finally get new combines and now we are going to try to keep them updated. 6 years ago we were running 2 9600s, a 7720, and an N-6. We have come a long way in our combine lineup. Here they are parked.
We still have a lot of shop projects going on as well. We are trying to get all of the straight trucks serviced and cleaned up. So we can put them away. One of the pots needed some trailer tires fixed so it was in. The 4440 with loader was also in for a service.
We have also been hauling a lot of cattle around. We are bringing the rest of them in off of grass to the stalk fields closer to home. We slowly move them from field to field toward home because they will have to be home in February. We are not going to get as much use out of our stalks this year due to the late harvest.
We should be finishing up the fall tillage this week also. Then there will be 2 more tractors to go through the shop. Well that is all for now. Questions and comments welcome.
