I helped one of my buddies with their wheat harvest. They had about 3500ac to bring in. Their R65 Gleaner with 32' Shelbourne stripper I got to run a machinerylink JD 9770 with a 32' Shelbourne stripper JD 8870 with Crustbuster 1000bu cart Pete with hopper bottom Freightshaker with hopper bottom The yield were highly variable. One 400ac field made 15bu/ac and another 700ac field made 52bu/ac, so it was an ok year. One of the better yielding fields. Some very late nights. Last passes of the year. The GPS was very nice. Had to take a weekend off in the middle of harvest to go to one of my Fraternity brothers wedding. His grooms cake was amazing. It had all the brands of the brothers from the fraternity. Mine is the one in the lower right. Lazy F Quarter Circle. There was a cheat sheet to the side with all the names and brands. Questions and comments welcome.

Nice pictures, you guys must have some real flat land out there to have fields that big. How much more capacity did the 9770 have compared to the R65 and how much more fuel did the 9770 burn per day?

Nice pics. A few guys around here run stripper heads. My Uncle and Cousin both run them on their 9610s.

Clayton- I love the stripper head. Nothing like cutting 200ac a day per combine.
Gleaner- Grain tank cap is the same. I could go a little faster but not much. It was hard to get a real good comparison because they had so much trouble with the silver seeder again. JD burns 12gal/hr even in 80bu wheat. Some fields are flat but for the most part there is slope and hills to them. They just use terraces and make whatever part of the section they own into one field. So there are some really tough fields.

What where you getting for loss out of the Gleaner compared to the Deere? On a good day we usually cut 200ac per combine. I've heard different things about the stripper heads, do they drop a lot of grain when they are stripping the heads?
Nice pics Garret!!

Dallas- Grain loss is minimal. Compares really well to a platform. Changing the headers speed is really helpful. As far a loss between the machines they were about the same.
