Summer's rolling right along and crops are looking real nice so far.
Some of our Canola at mid week. Today went to check it out and the flowering has wrapped up. Just needs to finish filling.
Looking over some of my durum at the neighbors canola, about a week later than ours. It was in full bloom yet early last week when the heat hit. Interestingly the yard in the center of it all is my parents farm, where I grew up.
Peas are looking better than they have in close to 8 years. Feeling pretty good about the decision to not seed lentils in favor of yellow peas this year.
Headed to town for a combine clinic on the CIH 20 And 30 series combine. Very interesting, one of the best dealer clinics I've been to over the years.
While at the dealer had a drive around, noticed the neighbors have finally let their last Lexion go in favor of another CIH. This 480 was one of 3 Lexions they once ran (other 2 were 460's)
Driving to town for the CIH clinic and caught a glimpse of a local Big Bud sitting hooked up to a cultivator. Hadn't seen it for a couple years so glad to see it's still around. He replaced it with a big Versatile for primary hp, so it now does a lot of sitting.
Winter wheat's starting to change pretty fast after this past week of heat. This was also taken mid week so it's changed a lot more since then.
After doing some crop checking and calculating, we figure bin space may be a bit tight this year, so a couple new 5000bu bins on hoppers are on the way. Should be here Monday some time. We'll start with that and see how it goes from there. Had to pull a couple old flat bottom 2000 bu bins out of the way to make room for the new ones.
With a couple weeks yet to go it looks as though I may make my deadline to get my wife's grandfather's W6 done in time for our hometown's centennial and homecoming weekend. Still have lights and generator to finish wiring, and some minor details, but I should be able to get it done. Not perfect, but it's come along way in the last couple years.
Hope you enjoyed, next week we'll be shifting up a gear and be starting in on pre-harvest servicing of the equip. So the swather, combine, and headers should be coming out of hibernation next week.
