Hello guys,
I am doing a project for school about planting. On our real farm we run 28" rows, but I'm doing my project on 22" spacing. Can anyone tell me how many bushels of corn it takes to plant 1 acre on 22" spacing? Thanks!

What is your spacing between seeds?
I looked up the average amount of seeds in a bushel and its around 90,000 ish 1 Square acre is 43,560 feet. Which is the same as 208.710326 ft. by 208.710326 ft. Im going to round to 209 feet. So lets say for example that you have 5 inch spacing between seeds.
209x12 = 2508 in. 2508/5 = 501.6 seeds in each 209 ft row. Now you need to calculate how many rows there are.
If you are planting 22 inch rows then you will do the same thing with 22 instead of 5.
209x12 = 2508 in. 2508/22 = 114 rows. 114x501.6 = 57,182.4 seeds per acre. 90,000/57,182.4 So if we assume that there are 90,000 seeds in a bushel then 1 Acre would be equal to about 1.57 bushels.
Keep in mind that was done using 5 inch spacing between seeds. And assuming that theres around 90,000 seeds in a bushel.
Correct me if I made any mistakes.

57182 seeds an acre is WAY too much. thats the same as saying your planting population is 57,000, and i don't know anyone crazy enough to do that much. On 30'' rows i plant around 31700, or at least thats what i did this year and had some fields go over 200bpa. Most guys go 32,000 to 34,000 on 30'' on 22'' you could prolly do a little more than that.

How many pounds per acre? How many bushels per pound?
I thought you seed lbs/ acre not seeds per row? so it shouldn't matter if you are running 22 or 28" rows, just like it doesn't matter if you are running 7 or 12" spacing with an air seeder as long as you are getting 3lbs/acre or whatever your target is.
or am I missing something?
