That is a slick looking rig. I am glad to see some Whispering Hills action. How is the display coming? I always enjoy seeing your work.

I just haven't had time or motivation the last couple years but I'm picking away at a dozen half finished projects now so it's getting closer. I think I just got burned out half way through construction (on two farms) after building 3 displays in 6 years from 2004 to 2010 and needed a break. |

I am finally getting ready to build a nice display instead of the plywood one I had. I just hope I can get about 1/4 of the detail in mine you get in yours. ;D

Impressive. Definitely got the right details to distinguish it as a Flexi-Coil. Good job. Cart looks great too, still like the traditional colors over the red and/or blue versions. Also noticing a lot of cool stuff on the other side of the trees.....
Glad to see your back making progress again. One of these years I'm gonna have to find the time to get a display or 2 built.

Chris I might have to come down sometime and measure your rig before I build version #2, its hard to find them around the city with wings down.

For sure, I've got a 200+ page assembly manual for the thing too sitting in the shop with some great diagrams in it too if you want to get all overkill with drafted-like "blueprints" and all that. I've been staring at these 5000 drills long enough one of these days I guess I should try building one too so I could probably use a set of measurements myself.
The only time the wings go up on ours is on the road....

That's an awesome looking setup. Did you resin cast your shanks and packers or build them all one by one. It's definatly nice to see some customs that we can relate to up here. Does it flex like a Flexicoil :-)

Shanks are slightly modified Ertl ones, I bought a handful of cultivators when I found them cheap but the 130' of airseeders for Whispering is eating them up in a hurry! I might have to keep my eyes open for pre/post Christmas sales.  The packers are my own molds. It does have a bit of flex, I learned that when I had the diecast axles on the front, had to do them in resin to lighten the load on the frame. LOL  |
