Finally starting to get cold now, most farms are finished with soybean/corn harvest and wheat/tillage is at a stand still. It has been to wet to get in the fields the past week. So I decided to get out and see what others are doing. Interesting farm I found, odd lineup too. This years corn ground, 1 pass with a disk. Wheat is planted on this years tobacco land. Recently harvested soybean field, I believe the yields on this field were superb. Hay field, bottom half was corn last year and the farmer who rents it let that grow out. Not much to do now... Lastly these pictures sum up my deer season, crappy. Spike in the first picture and a doe taking a dump in the second one. Looking forward to turkey season now.

Our guys been done with fall work. Even with drilling, which wrapped up by 1st of December. Most guys now are working on stuff in the shop and taking a break from the fall busy life.

Nice pics. We haven't done much here either. Finished up spreading fertilizer and filled our December contract for grain. Now just sit around and do odd jobs. That is an interesting farm in the first pics.

Most guys were set to be done by last weekend but we got some rain which really softened up the fields and set most guys back a few weeks. Heck some guys still have soybeans in their field.

There are still beans in the fields on my area too. Saw a guy spraying his wheat last week. On the deer season, the does taste just as good if not better than the big ones!

Crazy to think you guys still have crop on, we finished harvest in September this year. For deer, I always got told when there's a big one, you make sure it doesn't run away, so there may not be much left more meat I'm not sure what to think about shooting does, they do taste better from what I've heard, and those small bucks will get bigger in a few years. But I honestly hate shooting females (My cow moose), as they may have a calf, then the calf is starving, and we get rid of to many does, it's going to take a while to get the herd back up. It'll be like Mule Deer in my area, 10 tags given out in some zones. I'll continue to shoot bucks, but may not get one every year if I get other bull or buck tags

Does taste a lot better than a big buck however I am trying to grow some of the deer up and manage them (Something alot of other people around here don't). That spike is the 5th one I have seen this year. Hopefully the other hunters will pass on him too or my effort will be in vain.

Most guys in the flat part of NC (Sampson/Johnston) don't have any crop left on their fields since they are able to get out in the fields faster than we are in the bottom lands of Duplin County. Also let it be known, Sampson county runs alot of red. So when I get out on Christmas break I will have to take some pictures of their machines. Alot of new Magnums.

Djt in our area, deer are so plentiful that they have become a nuisance animal. I'm fact, you can get a nuisance permit and hunt year round if you were so inclined. So, if you are trying to manage your land for quality, it is important to take some of the does out of the herd and let the small bucks walk. We try not to shoot any bucks that aren't bigger than 6 points. After a few years, it makes a difference. On 150 suburban acres, we've taken two nice 8s and a 7 along with a few does. In fact, I took my sons on their first deer hunt today, and they are upset with me for not shooting at the doe we ran up on today. Their Mom is out of town, so the last thing I wanted to do was clean a deer and worry with them. It was mission accomplished in my mind when they saw the deer. They can't wait to go again now!

You just got them hooked. Next step is to take them out during spring and let them hear a turkey gobble before the sun rise.
