Like the spring, fall came early. We were fortunate that what rain we did receive during the summer was enough and timely to produce a good crop.
This first picture is the earliest I have ever seen soybeans harvested in this area. It was taken just outside of Moorhead, MN on August 28.
Our soybean harvest started September 15. This was about three weeks earlier than normal. Yields were pretty good at around 35-40bushels per acre. The challenging part of harvest were the green stems. This is usually not an issue for us as we typically have a killing frost. I didn't get many pictures due to not having much time off from work. Shortly after these pictures were taken the combine plugged up the first time of too many times due to green stems.
Corn harvest also started three weeks earlier than normal. We began harvest September 29, the earliest that I know of for our farm. Not only this was the earliest it was also coming off dry. Yields were between 130-180 bushels per acre. I some vacation time so I got many pictures. When I stared my vacation the weather was warm enough to be in t shirts; by the end of the week you had to get the Carhart bibs out to stay warm.
This was my hauling rig; the Ford TW 10 with the gravity boxes. I hauled home to our bins and my dad had the truck and hauled to town.
This looks to be the last harvest for our International 1600 truck. We haven't licensed it for the last two years and only use it on the farm for corn harvest only as a backup. In early December Dad bought a Ford F-900 tandem. We will still keep the Chevrolet C60.
Some short videos of the harvest.

By mid October we were done with combining. All in all, it was a pretty good year and we'll try it again next year.
