We were able to hit the fields and start putting some corn in the ground today. The no-till ground was still too wet to go but some of the conventional tilled ground was ready. We put the 8630 on the old field cultivator so we could get a jump on the 3 planters by running 5 cultivators. We are planning to get a 60 footer in the future to replace 2 smaller ones and tractors. That will help with efficiency and take 1 less operator. Here is the crew sitting in the yard ready to roll in the morning. Here they are hitting the field. The 700 seems to be performing well so far. Especially since it was cheap. The planters were rolling by noon. The 8440 is on the Kinze. We run GPS but we chose to leave the markers on the planters in case we ever have signal problems. The 8530 planting. It will move to no-till as soon as it is dry enough. They split up into 2 crews. This is the other ones working ahead of the planter. The 900. The 8630. The 4960 and IH planter running. He was having signal problems so he is running his markers. Not sure what the problem is but the signal comes and goes. That is all for now questions and comments welcome.

Nice journal Clayton. Cant wait til I get all my equipment and can do some journals. Are you guys runnin by any powerlines? could be affecting you signal if you are. may need to send the unit in to get looked at. we had a similar problem last year with the GPS not getting a signal.
Four Leaf got some tillage in in early March but its too wet to run now. hopefully it will dry out and we can start planting corn.

We switched out the antenna and it is up and running again. We will have to send it off and get it checked out. Hopefully we can get started on the no-till tomorrow. The sprayers are putting down fertilizer and pre emerge on the no-till ground today since the wind isn't blowing.

It is still calm here. It looks like it is fixing to rain before too long. There is a thunder storm brewing up south of us. Not too many are planting yet. Just a few have started. My friend just went to work for a farmer with a brand new 16 row Deere central fill. They are trying to plant but they are having nothing but trouble with the new planter. He actually sent me this text yesterday. "If u still have that little ccs planter on ur little farm put it on the floor and step on it" ;D ;D He said the Deere tech has been out every day this week and it still isn't working right. It was supposed to be field ready. The boss is getting a little upset. Can't say that I blame him.

Should have gone with a CIH No one is planting no-till around here but we have some ground thats been summerfallowed for 2 years that was partially strip-tilled (on the ends) that is going by the weekend... hopefully. The rest of the no-till is so dang wet that it wont go for 10 days or more unless we get some good hot winds to dry it out.

I walked out in a wheat stubble field yesterday and left inch deep tracks. I was taking temps and its still around that 50-55degrees. So I stoped getting planters ready and decided to get cows to grass instead.
