were looking at trading our 305 magnum in on one of these, stieger because of my preferences and the magnum due to the farm owners preferences
in reality i do know im comparing 2 different classes of tractor here as does my boss
this machine will be primarily pulling a 30 foot field cultivator with 5 bar spike harrow and a 32 foot brillion packer and a 9 shank chisel plow with 3 inch twist points (chisel will be upgraded to either an 11 or 13 shank or even quite possibly a case ih 870 ripper
seeing how this machine will only do tillage work im pushing the stieger but our past has been magnums as early as a 7250 magnum w/fwa
ALL I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS WHAT YOUR PREFERENCE BE???

I can't speak for the magnums, but we have a Steiger 350. It's a good tractor, we only pull cart with it, on the 1194 fully loaded, you don't even recognize it's there. You can use that to reference off other things I guess
You also have to take DEF into account, you will have to carry that around vs your Magnum.
In our experience, 4wds are cheaper to. Just is that way where we deal, I can't speak for you though.

I've driven my friends 340 with a Houle 6300 tanker and it works well. Not the best on hills, yet more versatile. However a 4wd leaves room for expansion with bigger implements. All in all I'd say the 340, because I'm more familiar with them.

magnum or stieger both will need def this will just add in with the 5130 combine we already have and your cart reference gives me an idea though
and the stieger is 1,000 more on trade than the magnum when ordered and thats everything but a 3pt hitch and pro700

Horsepower being essentially equal, I like the visibility from a 4wd but if you are in an out a lot the shorter Magnum is much better the older you get.
weight wise the 340 is under 30,000lbs the 350 ranges from 35-42,000.
For what you're doing go with the 350.

cheaper in initial cost means nothing if it cannot save you money in the long run

talking from personal preference and past history hear if you are using it for tillage i would go with the 4wd we use 2 in the fall and spring a 485 case ih steiger to pull 36ft chisel plow 52.5ft case ih feild cultivator and a 335 steiger to pull a 24row kinze planter and a 1000 bushel cart prior to the 335 we had a 275 the 275 was a great step up from our mx 180 we used to pull the planter with i think you would be more happy with a 4wd, our dealership really pushes the steiger 4wd to every one over the magnums for tillage because the steiger has more visibility and heavier to keep wheels on the ground

well deal is done although we all wanted the stieger but due to keeping morons on fall tillage duty we stayed magnum and signed papers at lunch for a 340 magnum brand new too this was in stock and at a hell of a discount as well so my boss will also be able to afford his new farm truck
