Well we thought we were going to start planting last week, but mother nature had differant plans. We had everything ready to roll and it started raining, and hasnt stopped.
Everything sitting in the shed waiting for a dry day. The DB-90, and 6 rw kinze are on corn duty. And the ccs is on bean duty for now. Depending on the weather and how fast we get corn done we might also use the ccs for some of the milo. When we're done with corn and milo the planters will start in on sunflowers and the ccs will go to planting cane.
The way last spring went with being wet and behind all spring and this one shaping up the same way, we thought we'd add another planter. The deere dealer had this 16rw that had been traded in on another. Its a few years old and needed some tlc but the price was cheap so we brought it home and went to work on it. We're going to pull it with the 7820, hopefully its not to big for it.
We also have been in dire need of a bigger balling tractor, the big square is way to much for the 4450 so we also found this 8300 on a farm sale. Its a 96 with 7000 hrs, she's in fairly good shape, nothing a good service and washin and waxin cant fix. We wanted to put it on the 16rw but the deere dealer couldnt get a gps in time, maybe next year.
the 9630 has been fixing terraces and ditches, a problem we havent had to worry about for the last few years. Its kind of a nice problem to have.
So with all the rain and not being able to plant we've been concentrating on getting cows to grass. Its alittle early and with it being so cold the grass hasnt been growing like we hoped but we will be way to busy later so just as well get it done now. We have been hauling alot of fats for a local feedlot so we added a tri-axle pot. Come to find out it works great for pairs too. If we put the second deck in the nose we can get about 50 pair on.
Well things keep spinnin round. Thanks for looking, until next time Dustin.
