Last week I took some time off from work to go home and play farmer. I didn't get to play as much as I hoped for, but it was nice to get away from work for awhile. So here is some pictures of our equipment. I'll post in field pics in another post soon.
First up is the tractors. We run a Ford TW-10 and 9700.
This is the TW-10.
This is the 9700.
Paired together.
In cab tour of the 9700. The cab inside is the same on the TW-10 except for different knobs on the levers.
On the dash, the TW-10 has oil pressure guage and volt guage instead of lights on the 9700.
Levers
Floor pedels. The pedel in between the clutch and brakes is the Dual Power transmission. It can be shifted on the go. Tap the top is direct drive, tap the bottom is under drive. It's pretty similar to an IH torque amplifer, but a lot less troublesome.
Top of cab
This is a 14 ft IH 620 drill. As you can see in the pic, we had some hub issues. They have since been fixed.
Dad found out a neighbor farmer had a 24 ft IH 620 drill for sale that has been parked inside unused for about 6-8 years. It is three 8 ft hooked together. Dad took a look at it, in very good shape and ended up buying it.
Since we use the TW-10 to plant with and have no drill transport to haul it around, we cut it down to 16 ft. I told Dad we could use the left over 8 ft drill on the Ford 5000 and have three tractors planting.
Earlier this spring, Dad had decided not to plant any corn. Well, last Saturday, he changed his mind. We'll have about 40 acres. Our corn planter is a Hiniker bar that used to be set up for ridge till with Kinze row units. It is a 6 row. We stripped off the ridge till equipment and added coulters to it for no tilling.
Random picture of the L2 sitting outside.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.
