I figured I would share some pics from the last few weeks. It's been pretty slow going on the farm lately. Been hauling lime and manure with the end dumps while 2 of our Petes are getting overhauls. We got one of our 379's repainted at Jeremy's in Sterling and are impressed with their work. She's in the shop right now getting new flaps and a wet kit. With three of our trucks down, that meant we had to make due with two. We brought the old pete out of rest to haul bales and a bit of grain. It's an old truck with alot of character. It has a butterfly hood with a 400hp cummins. I brought the 86' back from Deere last Friday. Took the 9330 in on Sunday One of the trucks that was in need of an overhaul. It's been on the farm for about a year. We got it from a trucking company out of Ohio. Word for the wise- Don't buy a northern truck. Building another lagoon at the feedlot. Our "Poorboy" excavator setup Packed the 9760 and one of the heads in this round top shed. Tight fit. Trey

Nice pics. I like that old red Pete. What does it have for an engine and transmission? What were the problems with the northern truck?

We've put several different combinations in it over the years. The white pete had to have a new radiator and several other things replace for the simple fact that they just rusted out. I'm not all too sure what they had to do to the motor, I think they had to replace quite a bit of it. Trey

Maybe it was the road salt that ate the truck up that made it rust.

Ic rust problems. My brother looked at a Dodge pickup once that came from up north somewhere. It had been a snowplow pickup. From 50 feet away it looked beautiful. Once you got up close you could see the rust starting on the body. Then we popped the hood and it was the rustiest mess I have ever seen under the hood. That baby had been covered in salt a lot. I told him run away this thing is going to be bad news and he agreed.

you guys are mean northern are truck is just fine are first one are second one came from texas but it stands up well in the cold and salt connor they arent being mean they are just pointing out that the trucks up here go through a lot more because of more snow and ice. and im sure they dont mean all trucks. does the truck that you are talking about have and under coating that helps it stand up to salt and road conditions better? sorry if this came across as rude but please word your posts a little more carefully.

I live in Iowa, and they say dont buy anything east of Indiana. We did buy a 1996 Freightliner FLD120 in Ohio with a 12.7 Detroit. and have had no problems with it at all.

Yeah, Dad wasn't a bit happy with this purchase. The frame was pretty rusted up when we got it, that should've been the first indication of what was to come. It's low on horse too, 435hp Cat 3406. The boys like to complain about it. lol
Thanks Guys! Trey
