Here is a shot of the next Authentic for CNH due out mid-late 2013 Steiger 350 Rowtrac! It'll look sweet pulling the new CNH planters from Speccast once they are released! Attachments:

That will be cool. I am not a track fan but I will most likely get one for my shelf. I have all the authentics except the Deere combine. I suppose I should get one for my shelf.

Tracks are not as wide and meant to go between the rows in rowcrops. I'm not sure I've ever seen a four wheel drive in row crops, but I'm sure somewheres out there it does lol. Nice looking model, definitely a good choice for an authentic

"IF" you do a 2WD does it. Heck most 2WDs pulls the planters now. So to me this was really too late and not needed. The few times I saw a 4WD pics with planter they just planted anyways. Even with fat tires. As for the toy its nice, but I won't buy it.

this widend case ih's track/high horsepower market you can get these with 3 different width belts and 3 different tread settings allowing use in as narrow as 20" rows up to 36" rows and as far as im concerned when planting corn i do not want a row being planted into the track of my tractor

I wonder if it will tough to switch over to a regular width track. Not too much row cropping done around here besides some silage corn, but a small frame quad would still be cool. I dont know much about row cropping but wouldn't it be better to have narrow tracks even on a cart tractor when combinning to stay between the rows as much as possible. Canola stubble does enough damage to tires I wouldn't want to run over too much corn stubble.

Really nice toy nonetheless. There should be some people out there that want it. I still have not seen the point in the whole concept though. I have seen a few 4WD's doing row-crop work but that was in Deere brochures, otherwise nothing.

I have seen a few 4WD's doing row-crop work but that was in Deere brochures, otherwise nothing. I'm the same way on this. In the 70s and 80s they was using them since they ranged in the 180-300HP range. So you had a use for it pulling the largest planters at 24 rows they offered. And you had cultivators, large pull type silage cutters, and few other implements. Those days you had a greater chance needing a 4WD with row crop abilities. Today with 2WDs hitting the 300HP+ mark. You took out the use for a 4WD with row crop. I just don't see a market/use for one. Other than pull a tillage, grain cart, or large air drill.

Regular track width isn't an option on these tractors

Why?!?! I think this is pretty silly for a authentic item as it cateries to a small catergory of people. You don't see any slim tires working crops up were I live it's all triples and big duals. Why not just make a normal quad trac I believe it would sell much better. By doing this it would also help custom builders like moores and others to develop a kit to turn it into a rowtrac. So every body would win in some way....I defiantly won't be buying one ill stick with the 7140 magnum ertl did a great job on.... Just my 2 cents

Im mildly aggravated and happy at the same time. Happy that I don't need to put the time prototyping and work to build them. Mad that I have a chopped up 450 with no future now and I blew a few hours measuring and drawing them out.
Its a mix-match.

I think this is a great choice for Ertl to make. They get to reuse an older casting saving on development costs and with the selection of row crop tracks, they open the market up for customizers. It should be pretty easy to turn this into a wheeled tractor and given that it's a small frame steiger without the fender mounted fuel tanks, the custom guys can do a lot with this casting.
The row crop tracks can now be used on all sorts of things.

I'm amused by how this simple heads up has turned into a debate o how "useless and pointless it is"....which is fine with me, less people buying them allows me to buy more...

Well said, we may not like everything that comes out, but more variety means more opportunity to custom build from the chassis or the parts you remove. Those tracks would work really nice on a pull type sprayer. In our area there would be a lot of uses for that machine, big planters, grain and dump carts, 12 row sugar beet harvesters and the list keeps going. At least Ertl didn't rerelease something with nothing changed but the decal. It has a lot of new parts.

the rear end is different and the front where the weight brackets are different. i have my 450 and with looking at jacobs 450. the whole rear end has to be replaced to get just the fenders.
i will still be getting 1 or 2 no. i have a friend who just bought a 350 in real life. would love to have the toy version of it.

All I see different from the 350 to 450 is of course the small frame/ large frame difference, and the back fenders are a little different. There is a little more metal on the 450. We also have a 350 in real life, but it's just wheels.
I agree with Adam, I don't see why everyone is getting so worked up about a toy. Don't like it? Don't buy it! More for me.

I think the real thing is going to sell very well to the beet farmers in wet conditions.

I never thought of the beet farmers, this will work well for them. Possibility I'll see them in my area!
